75 genuine Simpson Strong-Tie H2.5A hurricane ties, the rafter-to-plate connector framers and inspectors expect to see. Each tie locks a rafter or truss to the wall's top plates, so wind uplift is carried down into the wall instead of lifting the roof.
How many you need: one tie per rafter or truss, per wall. A 75-pack covers about 150 ft of wall with framing at 24 in. on center, or about 100 ft at 16 in. on center.
Why the H2.5A
- 700 lb allowable uplift per tie (Douglas fir / southern pine, 160% load duration), plus 110 lb lateral in both directions (F1 and F2)
- One part for every spot: no left- and right-hand versions to sort on site; the flanges can face in or out
- Code listed: IBC, Florida and Los Angeles
- 18-gauge steel, G90 galvanized for framing that stays dry inside the building envelope

Installation notes
- Fill every nail hole with the specified nail; loads are based on the full nail schedule.
- Nail into both top plates.
- Keep connectors in the same load path on the same side of the wall.
- Hurricane ties do not replace solid blocking.
